ABOUT

The Hydropower Research Center for Himalaya Region (HRCHR) is a collaborative initiative between Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal, and Wuhan University (WHU), China. Established under the spirit of the Belt and Road Initiative, HRCHR serves as a dynamic platform for academic exchange, joint research, and innovation in hydropower development. The center focuses on the sustainable and efficient utilization of hydropower resources in the Himalayan region by integrating scientific expertise, advanced technology, and regional collaboration. By bringing together multidisciplinary teams and promoting talent development, HRCHR aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation, enhance scientific research capabilities, and contribute to regional energy resilience. The center also plays a crucial role in fostering high-end research, policy recommendations, and technical solutions tailored to the unique geographical and environmental challenges of the Himalayas.

Aims

The Hydropower Research Center for Himalaya Region aims to foster international cooperation by building a shared academic platform that advances sustainable hydropower development and scientific collaboration between China and Nepal.

Objectives

Its objectives include promoting joint research, training skilled professionals, enhancing institutional collaboration, and providing technical support and policy insights for responsible hydropower development across the Himalayan and Belt and Road regions.
