CRHT-V Program Detail – Turbine Testing Lab

Turbine Testing Lab, Kathmandu University organized One Day International Symposium on Current Research in Hydraulic Turbines – V (Including Wind Turbines) on March 23, 2015 at C.V. Raman Auditorium. The scope of Symposium focused on the thesis works by students and researchers related to Hydro and Wind turbines and covered R&D activities ongoing in this field. The symposium was a continuation of previous symposium CRHT-IV. The main objective of the symposium was to bring young researchers working in hydropower sector to a common platform to share their research experiences and develop networking for future endeavors.

The program was divided into three series sessions with 22 Oral Presentations and 5 Poster Presentations. Inaugurating the program, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, Registrar of Kathmandu University shared that the university was expanding in research in hydropower as there is tremendous potential in the sector. He further expressed his hope that the presenters and participants of the program could be benefitted through sharing of ideas and opinion. The chairperson for the sessions were Dr. Hari Prasad Neopane, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ramesh Kumar Maskey and Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha, Associate Deans, School of Engineering. The participants for the oral presentations were from NTNU; Norway, KU and University of Canterbury, New Zealand, whereas the undergraduate students from Mechanical Engineering department presented their related project activity as a part of poster presentation.
